About Frederic
I am a French native speaker originally from the Loire Valley, where I studied foreign languages. I have been tutoring / teaching French at all levels and all ages in the UK for 15 years+, helping adults with conversational French and students in achieving high results in their exams.
I have always had a passion for languages and music (which I also teach). I lived in the UK for 23 years, working in different sectors before establishing myself as an independent teacher and tutor in 2009 in the South West London area. I have enjoyed much word of mouth recommendations and a solid reputation, for which I think my knowledge, professionalism, relaxed attitude to teaching and approachable personality have a lot to do.
I am curious by nature and I always love to learn new things that I can incorporate in my teaching, it's a never-ending virtuous circle!
I also teach English to French speakers as well as guitar, I am a trained life-coach (CTI) and also a keen photographer.

The great majority of my students achieve levels 8-9.
I believe that a relaxed mind learns better, so I always try to make my lessons as fun and interesting as possible with patience and a good dose of pragmatism. I create specific learning programs around my students' needs, interests and capacity, setting realistic goals and making sure they feel in charge of their learning to keep them motivated and on track.
It is my experience that understanding the culture and history of the target language is an integral part of bonding with it and finding meaning behind the learning and practice routines, something I endeavour to communicate to my learners.
I have a real passion for teaching, which, I think, shows in my students' progress and motivation, as many continue with me throughout their education. I particularly enjoy helping students develop their critical thinking skills around a vast array of topics, which constitutes a great asset for their examinations and their own development.
I now teach exclusively online.

I have been a professional educator and personal coach since 2015 and I have had the opportunity to observe Frederic teaching. I have found him to be clear and precise in his explanations and flexible in his approach to suit his student’s way of thinking to help them understand and overcome any blocks. He is supportive and encouraging and will appeal to students who maybe don’t feel 100% confident about themselves in their learning. He is thoughtful in the topics that he suggests to his students to keep the lessons engaging whilst meeting curriculum requirements.
