About Stella
Hi! My name is Miss Stella. I have over 15 years experience working with children. I began as a Children's Librarian where I created story time programs for kids in the local community. Since 2021, I’ve had the pleasure of working with students of all ages as a dedicated tutor. My specialty lies in helping learners overcome challenges in reading, writing, spelling, and other ELA-related skills, though my tutoring has expanded to cover a broad range of academic subjects. I began tutoring independently to better support students in multiple areas, including math, science, history, language learning, homework assignments, and special projects. Most recently, I joined an international remote tutoring company, where I assist students worldwide with test preparation, organization, executive functioning, and more—providing well-rounded, personalized support. What sets me apart is my genuine, easygoing nature and patient, student-centered approach. I strive to make learning fun, engaging, and approachable, helping students feel confident and supported. I've helped students rise from D’s and F’s to the Honor Roll, and in one remarkable case, supported a child who had been held back to advance two full grade levels! I look forward to helping your child excel in his/her academic endeavors.

In every tutoring session, my priority is to help students feel welcomed, comfortable, and ultimately, confident. I take the time to truly get to know each student—their interests, learning style, and academic goals—so I can personalize each lesson to meet their specific needs.
My teaching techniques focus on clarity, patience, and adaptability. Whether we’re working through a school assignment or tackling a custom lesson I’ve designed, I ensure the student fully understands the material before moving on. If a session isn’t tied to schoolwork, I create targeted lessons based on the student’s learning gaps, interests, or goals.
My lessons vary, depending on the needs of the learner, but here is an example of a 5th Grader's ELA lesson.
Lesson Plan – Reading Comprehension & Writing
Objective: Improve reading comprehension and practice paragraph writing skills.
Lesson Plan:
Warm-Up (5 mins)
Quick vocabulary matching or word of the day exercise.
Reading & Discussion (15 mins)
Have the student read a short passage aloud.
Pause to ask comprehension questions (Who, What, When, Why, How).
Highlight key ideas and new vocabulary.
Skill Focus: Main Idea & Supporting Details (10 mins)
Identify topic sentence, supporting details, and conclusion.
Writing Practice (15 mins)
Prompt: “Summarize the story in your own words in one paragraph.”
Model first sentence together; student writes independently with guidance.
Wrap-Up (5 mins)
Review what was learned.
Set a mini-goal for next time (e.g., finish reading a chapter, improve sentence structure).
I specialize in working with elementary and middle school children, but I’ve also successfully supported many high school students. My strongest subjects are ELA and foreign languages (Spanish and Italian), though I also tutor in math, science, history, and general study skills—whatever my students need to succeed.
I have experience working both in person and online:
In person: I bring relevant materials and supplies unless we’re focusing on school assignments. Online: I design and share digital worksheets, exercises, and interactive assignments to keep lessons engaging and effective.
I believe what truly sets me apart is my focus on building confidence—not just improving grades. Over time, I’ve seen my students grow academically, but even more importantly, they begin to believe in themselves. That transformation is what I love most about tutoring!
