About Martin
Hello there! I'm a British-Canadian UX/UI and Graphic Designer with over 15 years of hands-on industry experience, designing digital experiences for real businesses, users, and practical challenges. I've worked across agency, corporate, and public-sector environments, creating everything from e-commerce websites to digital products I bring this real-world experience into my teaching, helping students understand not just design theory, but how UX/UI design and the day-to-day workflow operates in professional settings.
As a neurodivergent person myself, I understand that everyone learns, processes information, and approaches creative challenges differently. I will provide an inclusive, supportive, and non-judgmental learning environment where people of all backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles feel comfortable asking questions and how to develop their skills.
My teaching approach is patient, structured, and practical. I break complex design concepts into manageable steps, explain the reasoning behind design decisions, and adapt my approach to suit each student's needs and goals. Whether you're completely new to design, studying at college or university, building a portfolio, or transitioning into a UX/UI career, I'll help you develop your skills, gain confidence, and understand how to approach real-world design challenges.

My sessions are structured, practical, and tailored to how you learn. I teach design by focusing on fundamentals first, why something works before how to execute it, so you build real understanding, not just software knowledge. I use real-world examples from professional projects to bridge the gap between theory and industry expectations.
A typical lesson starts with a clear objective, followed by guided walkthroughs, hands-on exercises, and discussion. We’ll review examples together, apply concepts in real time (often directly in Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop), and finish with actionable feedback and next steps. Lessons can be skill-focused (e.g. wireframing, prototypes, user personas etc), project-based (designing a screen or feature), or portfolio-driven.
What sets me apart is my industry-first mindset. I try not to teach design in isolation, I teach how design is actually used in agencies, product teams, and client work. I give honest, constructive feedback, explain design decisions clearly, and help you think like a designer rather than follow templates or trends.
These lessons are ideal for beginners, students, career-changers, and junior designers. Whether you’re studying graphic design or UX/UI, building your first portfolio, preparing for interviews, or feeling overwhelmed by where to start, sessions are adapted to your level, goals, and pace.
