About Shea
Hi! My name is Shea Hiotidis, and I am a Chemical Engineering student at Georgia Institute of Technology and valedictorian graduate of Farmingdale Senior High School with a strong passion for STEM education.
I specialize in Middle School Math, Algebra I & II, Regents Chemistry, Regents Physics, and general high school math support. Since I recently completed many of these same courses and exams myself, I not only understand the material deeply but also know the study techniques and problem-solving strategies that help students succeed throughout high school and into college.
My teaching style is patient, supportive, and personalized to each student. As a younger tutor, I create a comfortable environment where students feel relaxed asking questions and building confidence in STEM subjects without feeling intimidated.

I tailor my lessons to each individual student and focus heavily on building conceptual understanding rather than simple memorization. As a Chemical Engineering student at Georgia Institute of Technology and a valedictorian graduate from Farmingdale Senior High School, I understand how important it is for students to feel confident in STEM subjects while also developing strong problem-solving skills.
My teaching approach focuses on breaking down difficult concepts into simpler, more understandable steps. I encourage students to actively work through problems with me rather than simply watching solutions, which helps improve both confidence and long-term understanding. I am patient, supportive, and adapt my explanations based on each student’s learning style.
A typical lesson usually includes:
Reviewing previous material and identifying problem areas
Going through concepts step-by-step with guided examples
Practicing Regents-style or classroom problems together
Teaching problem-solving strategies and test-taking techniques
Finishing with independent practice and a quick recap
What sets me apart as a tutor is that I recently completed many of these same courses and exams myself at a high level, so I not only understand the material deeply but also know the study techniques and academic habits that help students succeed long-term through high school and into college. As a current Georgia Institute of Technology engineering student, I focus on teaching students how to think through problems, stay organized, and approach STEM subjects with confidence rather than relying on memorization alone.
I am also young and approachable, which helps create a comfortable learning environment where students feel more relaxed asking questions and working through difficult concepts without feeling intimidated. My goal is to make tutoring both supportive and effective while helping students build confidence in their own abilities.
My lessons are designed for:
Middle school students
High school students
Regents Algebra I & II students
Regents Chemistry students
Regents Physics students
Students looking for general math support or STEM enrichment
I offer both online and in-person tutoring for students across Long Island and work with a wide range of ability levels, from students looking to strengthen foundations to those aiming for top exam scores
