About Luisa
I have a degree in languages and have been tutoring in French, Spanish, Italian and English for 10 years. I enjoy tutoring because of the opportunity to support students to achieve their objectives and to facilitate an engaging learning experience for them. Through time spent living and working in Spain, France and Italy, I have gained cultural as well as linguistic competence. As well as tutoring, I have many years' experience learning languages, including Mandarin and Te Reo Māori which gives me a thorough understanding of the needs of language learners and effective ways to approach the process. I have lived in NZ for 4 years and aside from my tutoring work, I have a background working in horticulture and environmental / social non-profits.
I'm a friendly person and enjoy engaging with my students - languages are all about communication and a good rapport!
I care about getting to know students as people, not just as learners.

My tutoring approach is highly adaptable to the individual needs and interests of each student and prioritises enjoyment of the learning process. I decide together with the student which topics they want to cover and in what way, then I create activities that exercise all linguistic abilities (reading, writing, speaking and listening) based on these topics. I am also open to working from textbook programmes, but always make sure that each lesson includes a variety of activities. Lessons can last between 30 mins and an hour and a half, depending on student preference.

Luisa is a fantastic tutor. Her knowledge of Spanish is incredible! I really like that she designs a class according to my goals. She has a warm and friendly personality which means that she is easy to learn from. I highly recommend her teaching!
Luisa is an amazing tutor! I've been having lessons with her weekly for almost a year. She's brilliant at tailoring my lessons specifically to me - not just to my level, but my interests as well, to make each session fun and engaging. She's also great at pinpointing my weaknesses and finding fun ways of encorporating them into our sessions, to ensure that I'm consistently improving over time. Can't recommend highly enough!
