About Advocate Zibele

My name is Advocate Zibele Ntshinka, an English tutor. I posses great communications skills, great confidence to deliver a great lesson plan, I'm not being afraid of the challenges that come along with an engaging audience or the ability of showing empathy and patience to learners. I'm passionate about my work and versatile but I'm also able to connect, empathize with students and inspire them. I also posses excellent understanding of both verbal and non-verbal communication and maintaining student engagement.I love keeping students attending my class feel a bubbly excitement of success and improvement and have clarity on what is expected of them or areas of improvement needed.

About the lesson

I conduct lessons firstly by having a conversation in English. Warm up with a casual conversation. I prefer using Standard English as much as possible by avoiding local language, slang, etc., to begin and then switch to the learner's style when they start talking.
Secondly, I ask why the learner is looking to improve their English. My students' motives help to inform my teaching. If a learner is unable to express their goals, I offer suggestions. I encourage my students to provide as much detail as possible for this answer.
Thirdly, I ask about experiences with English. Has the learner taken English classes for years? Taken no classes at all? Did they grow up in a household that spoke only broken English and they're hoping to develop something closer to fluency? If they have ever taken English tests, I try to acquire results.
Fourthly, I administer a writing task. I do not need to give a learner this task right away if they demonstrate very limited English skills. My first order of business for them is to develop their spoken English. I give this intermediate grammar review quiz only to more advanced speakers.
Lastly, I gather results. I compile the data from all of the above assessments into a comprehensive summary of each student's abilities.
