About Cayden
Having successfully navigated the GCSE and A-level curriculum myself, I have a genuine passion for exploring how society shapes our daily lives. Sociology is an intriguing subject as it helps us make sense of the world around us. From how our education system functions to the ways our social institutions evolve, my goal is to make these concepts clear, relatable and easy to understand for every student.
I chose to become a tutor because it reminded me of how daunting GCSE essay writing and exam timing can feel when you are sitting in class. I struggled to find useful resources and understand content efficiently, thus aim to use these mistakes to pass onto my students as something to avoid and overcome by using methods such as blurting in order to gather the required knowledge in time for exams. I strive to create a welcoming, pressure free environment where students feel comfortable asking any question, building their academic confidence, and genuinely enjoying the learning process.

Since I sat these exact exams recently, I know that mastering GCSE Sociology isn’t just about memorising facts. Instead, it is about knowing exactly how to apply them to win marks from the examiner. I focus heavily on exam technique, how to successfully embed key sociological theorists, and breaking down content so it’s easily digestible.
How I Structure My Online Lessons:
- Breaking Down The Theory: We break down the core Eduqas models including Component 1 (Education, Families, Research Methods) and Component 2 (Social Stratification, Crime and Deviance), using everyday real world examples that make abstract concepts easy to understand.
- Mastering Key Thinkers: I help students master and remember key sociologists like Durkheim, Parsons and Marx, required by the Eduqas specification. In addition, I implement niche sociologists also like Sue Lee, Reay, and Arnot in order to make essays stand out to the examiner.
- The Essay Blueprint: Many students struggle with the timing and layout of longer questions. I teach step by step frameworks that enable students to structure high scoring responses efficiently, ensuring they meet all assessment criteria well within the exam time limit.
- Exam Practice: This is the best form of revision and a true test of knowledge. Our exam preparation is data driven and highly structured. We will regularly utilise past papers together so there are no surprises on test day. I will guide you through effective time management strategies, show you how to break down high weighting essay questions, and provide constructive feedback on all your written work. This structured approach ensures you walk into the exam hall feeling completely prepared and confident.
