About Katie
Hi, I’m Katie! I’m an Oxford graduate with 100+ hours and 5 years of experience teaching English, French (and a bit of Arabic!) to students from primary school through to university level.
I graduated with a High First and won an unprecedented four Oxford Finals prizes, including awards for my dissertation, essay writing, French literature and Arabic literature. I know what excellent academic work looks like — and how to help students reach that standard.
For English and French, I teach across speaking, listening, reading and writing, including grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, comprehension and conversation. I also help GCSE and A-Level students with exam technique, literary analysis and essay writing. For university students, I offer more advanced support with academic writing, argument structure, research, editing and dissertations.
My lessons are highly individual. I identify exactly where you’re losing marks, lacking confidence or struggling with a concept, then focus our sessions on improving those areas. I also prepare extensively outside lessons, tailoring materials and exercises to your level, goals and learning style.
I teach Arabic across speaking, reading, writing, grammar and translation, from beginner to advanced levels.
I also coach Oxbridge applicants through the full admissions process, including personal statements, entrance exams and interviews. Rather than teaching formulaic answers, I help students develop their ideas, think confidently under pressure and communicate their academic interests at the level Oxbridge tutors expect.
I’m friendly and encouraging, but ambitious for my students. My goal is simple: identify where you are, establish where you want to be, and give you the skills, strategy and confidence to get there.

My lessons are highly personalised because I don’t believe the same approach works for every student. Before and between lessons, I put significant time into understanding your individual needs, strengths, interests and previous experience, so that our sessions are genuinely useful rather than generic.
For language students, I tailor lessons around the areas where you most need support, whether that is speaking confidently, grammar, translation, essay writing, literature or exam technique. I also adapt the materials I use to your interests and learning style, with the aim of making lessons both challenging and enjoyable.
For Oxbridge applicants, my approach is similarly individual. I spend time understanding your academic interests, experiences and strengths so that we can work out how best to communicate them throughout the admissions process. I can help with personal statements, entrance exams and interview preparation, including realistic mock interviews and detailed feedback.
Having been through the Oxford admissions process myself and subsequently graduated with a High First and multiple university prizes for my dissertation, literature and essay writing, I understand the academic standard students are working towards.
Most importantly, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I’m friendly and patient, but I also set ambitious goals and give specific, practical feedback so that you can see genuine progress from lesson to lesson.
