About William
I am an Anglican seminarian and University of London humanities graduate presently undertaking further academic study in theology and religion at the University of Oxford. As a musician, avid columnist and bibliophile, I bring a bubbly energy and strong enthusiasm which is often lacking in the context of online and in-person tuition.
Whether navigating basic texts with first-learners or returning to old ideas with mature students, I look to inspire tutees with a sense of imagination, confidence, and a penchant for adventure which I am convinced begins in the act of learning.

I offer an attention-grabbing, inductive style of academic tuition which encourages the will to learn and engages strongly with the real texts and real history of language courses. For those studying towards GCSE and A-Level qualifications in foreign languages or English, I provide an accelerated pathway towards good performance in these qualifications, while retaining the energy, fun, and interest of the subject matter.
My lessons sit between 30 and 45 minutes, allowing time both for traditional/grammatical orientation, as well as exercise-based language work. I lay emphasis on a philological approach to language-learning, discouraging 'rote-learning' and promoting a fresh understanding of the development and history of languages and cultural ideas.
As a graduate in both history and theology, and Anglican in training for the Priesthood, I offer a wide and unique palette of skills for those looking to diversify their experience of language learning.
