About Chihiro

Hi! My name is Chihiro Kinumaki, and I’m from Japan. I’m a Chemistry tutor, and I love helping students understand even the trickiest concepts in a clear and simple way. I studied Chemistry for bachelor-master’s integrated degrees at the University of Oxford and graduated with First-class Honours, and I also achieved a perfect 45/45 in the International Baccalaureate (IB), so I know what it takes to succeed in exams like GCSE, IB, and university-level Chemistry. I have experience teaching Japanese for the past three years at Oxford, and I’ve also tutored Chemistry before university. I enjoy creating lessons tailored to each student’s goals, whether it’s preparing for exams, completing IAs, or just building confidence in Chemistry. Outside of teaching, I love playing piano, listening to K-pop, and baking. I try to bring that same enthusiasm and creativity into my lessons!

About the lesson

My goal is to make Chemistry understandable, logical, and engaging. I believe that students learn best when complex topics are broken down into simple, structured steps, and when lessons are tailored to their personal goals and learning style. Typical Lesson Plan: Quick review of the previous lesson to check understanding. Clear explanation of new concepts, often with visual aids or step-by-step examples. Practice questions to apply the knowledge and build exam technique. Discussion & feedback, focusing on areas of confusion to strengthen understanding. Summary & next steps, so students leave the lesson confident about what they’ve learned. What Sets Me Apart: I studied Chemistry at the University of Oxford (undergraduate and master’s level). I achieved a perfect 45/45 in the IB Diploma, so I know first-hand how to succeed in rigorous exams. I am bilingual (Japanese and English) and have 3+ years of teaching experience in Japanese, which has given me strong communication and teaching skills that I bring to Chemistry lessons. I also offer Oxbridge interview preparation, drawing from my own successful experience.
