About Georgia
I am an Oxford University-educated English Literature specialist and university lecturer with extensive experience teaching, marking and supporting students from A-Level to Master’s level.
I hold an MSt in English (650–1550) from the University of Oxford, where I was awarded the Richmond Graduate Scholarship, and a First-Class BA (Hons) in English Literature, for which I received the English Prize.
Alongside lecturing, I mark Foundation to Master’s level assignments and am involved in interviewing prospective students for university study. This means I have a clear understanding of what lecturers, examiners and admissions teams look for, both in high-performing essays and in students preparing for higher education.
I specialise in helping students develop precise, well-structured arguments, sustained close analysis and genuinely independent critical thinking. The intention is to build autonomy - to help students become less dependent on guidance and more assured in their own academic judgement. Over time, this strengthens not only individual pieces of work, but the quality of their thinking more broadly.
While my training is in English Literature, I regularly support students across humanities, social sciences and business subjects where rigorous argument and analytical clarity are central.
My sessions are structured and methodical. I work particularly well with students who find academic writing overwhelming or difficult to organise, including neurodivergent learners. I place strong emphasis on clarity, routine and practical strategies that make academic work more manageable and sustainable over time.
Whether you are aiming to raise your grade, prepare for university study, or refine advanced research work, I offer focused and intellectually rigorous guidance tailored to your goals.

Sessions are structured and focused, typically lasting one hour. We begin by identifying a clear area to work on, whether that's understanding a set text, developing a stronger line of argument, refining analytical depth, or preparing for a specific assignment.
Alongside academic skills, I support students in engaging more deeply with subject content. This may involve unpacking complex passages, clarifying historical or theoretical context, exploring alternative interpretations, or strengthening close reading. The aim is not simply to accumulate ideas, but to develop a more confident and informed critical position.
Rather than correcting work line by line, we examine how arguments are formed and sustained, how evidence is selected and analysed, and how interpretations can be sharpened. Students are encouraged to articulate and test their thinking in discussion, building the confidence to assess and refine their own work independently.
For longer-term projects such as dissertations, sessions may focus on refining research questions, structuring chapters, and developing sustained critical engagement over time.
All sessions are delivered online and tailored to the level and goals of each student.
