About Julie
Hi! I’m an experienced English Language Arts teacher with 16 years of helping students grow and succeed. Along the way, I’ve been honored as Teacher of the Year in my district, which was a highlight of my career. I created my own project-based learning curriculum to make English lessons more engaging and meaningful, and I’ve even shared my approach with other teachers at conferences, focusing on personalized learning. I’m passionate about meeting students where they are and helping them build the skills and confidence they need to excel. Whether it’s writing, reading, or analyzing literature, I bring my love for teaching and my dedication to making learning enjoyable to every session.

My Approach
I believe every student has a unique way of learning, and my job as a tutor is to meet them where they are. I create lessons that are engaging, interactive, and tailored to each student’s strengths and goals. By fostering critical thinking, creativity, and confidence, I aim to help students not only improve their English skills but also enjoy the process.
Teaching Methods
I use techniques like scaffolding, where I break down complex ideas into manageable steps to build understanding and confidence. We’ll have discussions to deepen comprehension, creative activities to make learning fun, and even project-based tasks that connect what we’re learning to real-life situations. My goal is to make every session not just educational but also enjoyable.
A Typical Lesson
Each lesson starts with a clear focus, whether it’s tackling a tricky grammar rule, analyzing a classic text, or crafting an essay. From there, we dive into interactive activities—think guided readings, brainstorming sessions, or practice assignments. I’ll give plenty of feedback along the way, always aiming to help students feel encouraged and empowered to improve.
What Sets Me Apart
I’m not just here to teach—I’m here to connect. I create a supportive, positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring their ideas. I’m passionate about making English accessible, relatable, and even fun. My ultimate goal is to inspire a lifelong love of language and storytelling.
Who My Lessons Are For
With 16 years of teaching experience, I specialize in working with middle school and high school students who want to strengthen their English skills. Whether your goal is better grades, improved confidence, or simply a deeper understanding of literature and writing, I’m here to help you succeed.
