About Shadi
I’m Shadi (Ocean), a passionate handpan musician and teacher who loves sharing the beauty and creativity of this unique instrument with others.
For me, the handpan is more than an instrument—it’s a way to explore rhythm, melody, creativity, and self-expression. I enjoy creating a welcoming space where students can learn without pressure, develop their confidence, and discover their own relationship with the instrument.
Whether you’re completely new to handpan or already have some experience, I’ll meet you where you are and tailor our lessons to your interests and goals. I believe that everyone can make beautiful music when they are given the right guidance, encouragement, and freedom to explore.

My approach to teaching handpan is expressive, supportive, and personalized. I believe learning the handpan is not only about mastering techniques and rhythms, but also about discovering your own musical voice and learning how to express yourself through the instrument.
Teaching method and techniques
I adapt each lesson to the student’s level, learning style, and musical interests. We work on handpan fundamentals such as proper hand technique, basic rhythms, timing, coordination, scales, and creating melodies. As students progress, I introduce more complex rhythms, improvisation, musical phrasing, and techniques for developing their own compositions.
A typical lesson
We usually begin with a short warm-up and review of what was practiced previously. Then we focus on a new technique, rhythm, or musical concept. We practice it together step by step before applying it to simple musical patterns or songs. We also leave time for improvisation and creative exploration, because I want students to feel comfortable experimenting and expressing themselves through the instrument. Each lesson ends with clear practice suggestions tailored to the student’s goals.
What sets me apart
I create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students can learn at their own pace without feeling pressured to be perfect. My goal is to help students develop both technical confidence and personal expression. I especially enjoy helping students move beyond simply repeating patterns and begin creating their own rhythms, melodies, and musical ideas.
