About Jay-Marie
I am Jay. All the women in my life have studied to become great teachers - not me though. I just managed to get 5 distinctions in matric, with Afrikaans being one of them. BUT volunteering and working as a teacher's assistant helped me realize how much I enjoy it teaching and learning. And Afrikaans is just an interesting language to me, and I want to teach more people to love it. For instance, in Afrikaans a stapler is called a papiervampier-translating to a paper vampire because of the two holes it creates in the paper. And there are many more interesting words like that in Afrikaans.
