About Susan
A portion of my diversified background includes;
Teaching in the elementary levels of a private school and of teaching kindergarten to my three children, who each read by the age of four.
Working in the behavioral health field for 17 years with Family Centered Services of AK.
Past medical experience as an EMT, and recently in security with TSA.
My late husband and I had a wilderness lodge and guiding business in the Gates of the Arctic Nat'l Park.
I currently offer a small amount of rentals in Alaska.

My teaching approach is to be patient and a good listener, of not only where each child is academically, but also how they are as a rounded human being. I take their emotional and physical well being into account, and leave room for those needs to be met in an online environment. Of course some structure and time schedules would be needed, but it won't bother me if they need to be eating a few bites of breakfast, in between their instruction.

Details
My rates are for those learning English at the beginning and intermediate levels. The class format will be through ZOOM. I will listen to your student read, and will help them understand and pronounce what they are reading. I will help them understand by explaining the meanings, and by using visual aids as needed. I could also come to a student's home within a five mile radius of downtown Fairbanks. The rate for that is $17.00/hour including travel time.
