About Kayd
Growing up unsure of what I wanted to do, my focus shifted across many subjects, but, with a biology professor for a dad, I was always very interested in the sciences. At various times, my formal and personal studies have focused on zoology, sports medicine, anatomy & physiology, biology, calculus, chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry.
Now I have a PhD in analytical chemistry with experience in pharmaceutical & biotech research and looking to improve science communication, outreach, and education.

STEM is an important aspect of our communities, and I believe any lesson can be related to an example in your daily life or something you are passionate about. To approach difficult concepts, I like to use visual aids and personalized analogies to make them more tangible.
Throughout my academic journey to obtain a PhD, I have studied a wide range of STEM subjects and worked closely with industry collaborators. With this background, I would like to guide highschool and undergraduate students to better understand their STEM subjects (Calculus, Chemistry, Biology, etc.) and how they might apply what they learn in a potential/future career.

I highly recommend Kayd as a tutor. He has exhibited excellent teaching skills and a passion for learning. As a teacher, I have observed how he presented chemistry lessons to groups. Kayd demonstrated a passion for the subject matter. It was apparent that he put a lot of time and creativity into his preparation. He introduced the subject, sparking the curiosity of the learners. Kayd showed an orderly progression, engaging the learners with relevant, effective questions. Kayd led the students in learning experiences with hands-on exploration and discovery. The complex principles were simplified for students to grasp an understanding. He showed respect for each student and all those he worked with. It is evident that he takes teaching seriously.
A great teacher that is detailed and empathetic toward any level of learner.
An Absolute Lifesaver for Science! I cannot recommend Kayd enough! Before we started our sessions, I was completely overwhelmed by Chemistry and couldn't keep up with the fast pace in class. Kayd has an incredible ability to break down complex, intimidating scientific concepts into simple, everyday terms that actually make sense. They are deeply patient, never making me feel silly for asking basic questions, and they always ensure I truly understand a concept before we move on to the next topic. Thanks to their support, my test scores have improved drastically, and I finally feel confident sitting in science class. If you are struggling with science, do yourself a favor and book a session with them!
10/10 really patient and helped me finally understand chemistry
Kayd has been one of the most helpful and supportive tutors while I’ve been taking chemistry classes. I was so confused while learning the gas laws. It just seemed so overwhelming with how many to learn and understand, but he really helped me break it down into the essentials. Once he helped me with that, solving the problems became a matter of applying the logic and plugging in the numbers.
I met Kayd at the University of Oregon, and he was such a great TA for general chemistry. I had no background in chemistry and he never made me feel like I asked a dumb question. He put in a lot of effort to break down the concepts in a way that was easy to understand. Not only did he explain the concepts well, he also made great diagrams that were better than the textbook! I highly recommend Kayd as your next tutor.
