About Sarah
Hi, I’m Sarah! I’m a chemist, educator, and science communicator with a PhD in Chemistry and 15 years of experience teaching and sharing science.
I’ve taught chemistry and science at both the high school and university levels and have worked as a professional scientist in environmental and atmospheric chemistry. I love making complicated science feel approachable, and I’m known for bringing enthusiasm, humor, and plenty of real-world examples into my teaching.
My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free space where you can ask questions, build confidence, and maybe even discover that chemistry isn’t so bad after all!

My approach to tutoring is all about making science make sense—and having some fun along the way! I believe there is no single “right” way to learn chemistry, so I tailor each lesson to the student, their goals, and how they learn best.
I focus on building real understanding rather than memorizing formulas. We’ll break challenging concepts into manageable pieces, use examples and analogies, work through problems together, and figure out exactly where things stopped making sense. A typical lesson starts with what you’re currently working on and what you’re finding difficult, then we build from there.
I work with high school and university students, from introductory chemistry to more advanced courses. I can help with course concepts, problem-solving, assignments, lab reports, exam preparation, and developing stronger study and problem-solving strategies.
Most importantly, lessons are personalized to you. Whether you love chemistry, hate chemistry, or are currently wondering why anyone invented moles in the first place, we’ll work together to get you where you need to be!
