About Lief
I’m Hao, a PhD researcher in Economics at the University of Bath, where I have also worked as a teaching assistant leading undergraduate seminars. My research focuses on financial market volatility, using statistical models to understand how risk evolves across different market conditions.
Having lived in the UK for over eight years, I’m fully comfortable teaching in English. I’ve worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds — from those just starting A-Level Economics to undergraduates tackling econometrics problem sets.
I enjoy teaching because Economics is a subject that often clicks once it’s explained the right way. I focus on finding that angle for each student. My approach is patient and structured, and I’m always happy to revisit concepts until they’re fully understood.

My Economics lessons focus on building real understanding — not just memorising definitions for exams. I help you connect economic models to real-world intuition, so the logic actually sticks.
For GCSE and A-Level students, lessons are aligned with your exam board syllabus. We cover key concepts, develop clear diagram techniques, and work through past papers together. I’ll also show you how to structure strong evaluative answers to maximise marks.
For university students, I offer support in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and dissertation guidance. My PhD research focused on financial volatility modelling, so I’m comfortable bridging intuition with technical detail.
Each lesson is tailored to your current level. If something isn’t clicking, we slow down and approach it from a different angle. After each session, I provide clear notes and targeted practice questions to reinforce your progress.
