About Anna
Hi, I'm Anna! I'm a friendly PhD student of Molecular Biology at Cambridge University. I achieved a 9 in GCSE Biology, an A* in A-level Biology, and a first class Master's degree in Biochemistry from Oxford University. The subjects I succeeded in were those in which I had a great teacher who encouraged me to explore and find enjoyment in my subject. I want to provide this for other students, whether they are struggling or thriving in Biology, and help them achieve their target grades. Tutorials with me are chatty and interactive, using diagrams and discussions to tackle individual gaps in understanding. I successfully applied to Oxford for my undergraduate degree and have first-hand and up-to-date knowledge of the university applications process. It can be confusing and overwhelming, as there is a lot of misinformation out there! However, I am here to help with personal statements, interview technique, and providing mock interviews.

I use interactive and discussion-based tutorials to deepen understanding and enhance confidence in Biology and Biochemistry. I create lesson plans tailored to the individual student's preferences - for example, the more conventional tutorial for teaching and revising particular topics, or Oxbridge-style tutorials for those wishing to extend and enhance their subject knowledge. I also set and mark optional extra work, which is discussed in the following tutorial. I can also advise GCSE/A-level students on exam and revision technique, university applications, and provide mock interviews for those applying for a biochemistry-related degree. My lessons are targeted towards UK students age 15-18. I am unable to offer advice on admissions tests or non-GCSE/A-level exams but please get in touch if you have any queries!

Perfect! Anna has been a tutor to my two boys during this summer’s school holidays.
She has helped them both to revise for GCSE level Biology and A level Biology and now both boys have started in Year 11 and Year 13 much better prepared to face the final year before exams in GCSE/A-level Biology. Anna is always well prepared, patient and has got excellent written and communication skills as well as great at drawing diagrams for more visual learners.
Her positive attitude, patience and enthusiasm on the subject was very motivational, but also fun for the boys. She is very knowledgeable and well read and her recommendations on what to read next on the subject were very well received by both boys.
She is very well organised and inspiring as well as very good at judging in how much detail to go into with each student to suit their level and understanding. By suggesting different revision techniques, she has given plenty of options to both boys and it helped them a great deal to find the one that suited them best.
She has been a tremendous help and we are very grateful and will not hesitate to recommend Anna as an excellent tutor online or in person. We will certainly would like to continue using her help online during term time.View more reviews
