About Alon
Done a great deal of studying throughout my life. Philosophy, psychology, coaching, counseling, psychotherapy, psychodynamics, music, English and literature in general, chemistry, physics, biology and a fair amount more. Studying, learning and contemplating is a way of life for me. There are few greater treasures in life than to meet someone where they're at and constructively impart meaningful insight, wisdom, as well as identifying and challenging the axiomatic lenses through which we perceive the world and our place within it.

I don’t teach philosophy as a collection of abstract theories to memorize. I teach it as a living language—one that helps you think more clearly, see more honestly, and orient yourself in the world with greater depth and integrity. If philosophy were a language, I speak it, think it, and embody it. My approach is grounded, conversational, and practical. We start where you are—your questions, confusions, intuitions, and tensions—and build from there. Whether you’re encountering philosophy for the first time or returning to it with more life experience behind you, I meet you at your level and take things seriously without being heavy-handed. Together, we explore the great thinkers and traditions—not as distant authorities, but as fellow human beings grappling with the same enduring questions: meaning, existence, truth, responsibility, freedom, suffering, love, power, and selfhood. Philosophy, as I teach it, is not about having the “right answers,” but about developing clarity of thought, intellectual courage, and the capacity to sit honestly with complexity. Socrates once famously remarked, "I cannot teach people anything, I can only teach them how to think" I place strong emphasis on: Critical thinking Clear thinking and precise language Developing your own philosophical voice Connecting ideas to lived experience Cultivating intellectual humility without losing conviction Exploring wisdom from important figures across the ages My sessions are dialogical rather than lecture-based. We think together. Philosophy becomes something you can actually use—to make sense of your life, your relationships, your work, and the wider world. This is philosophy not as ornament, but as orientation.
