About Nina
I am an undergraduate Philosophy student who was once in your position. Maths was by far my best subject at school and was the one I enjoyed the most. I was constantly put in high-stress academic situations in school throughout my whole life and tutoring allowed me to excel at these so I can resonate with wanting to better yourself. However, I'm also aware that some of you might find Maths extremely difficult and you may be struggling and that is also fine. I found Biology extremely hard. I know what it feels like to struggle with a subject. Some subjects are just more difficult for some people. I want to make you feel more comfortable answering a Maths question with the ultimate goal of achieving a top level grade. I am familiar with the 1-9 grading system and can target whichever level you're trying to achieve. Maths is a good subject to engage in and achieving a good grade will also allow you to study certain A Level subjects. Certain A-Levels such as Physics (which I also studied) and Chemistry will require a high level GCSE Maths grade. It can also open many doors for your future. Even now at degree level, I am still using Maths!

Improving in Maths solely comes down to practice. I was tutored for several years and the most effective learning method is seeing one and then doing one. This essentially is going through a question with the tutee, explaining every step of the question, mark by mark in order to get to the answer and then leaving them to do a question by themselves.
For each lesson, I would attempt to cover the theory for one GCSE topic, providing the capability to answer a Grade 9 question, quality notes and exam questions. The tutee then can answer questions as agreed upon and then email/text or whatever form of communication is preferred and feedback will be provided ASAP (within 2 days at most), whether that is by email or simply during the next online lesson.
Each lesson would typically be 1 hour long however this is flexible and if agreed upon the day before a 2 hour lesson is very much ok. No matter the individual certain topics will require more practice, and that is ok.
I do not have experience tutoring GCSE students, however, I have experience with younger students in tutoring both Maths and English. I have extreme capability to teach Maths at GCSE level and am open to criticism from tutees. I can adapt to individual students as all students are different and have preferred ways of learning. Not only this, I am approachable and encourage questions to be asked. There is no point in having a tutor if the tutee is not comfortable asking questions.
My lessons can range from 11 to 16 year olds and I will provide the suitable material for such lessons.
