About Shubham
I am a physicist with an undergraduate degree from IIT Roorkee and a PhD in Physics from the University of Florida, USA. During my academic career, I also worked as a researcher at the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, DC, where I collaborated with scientists from around the world on advanced experimental research. My training and experience span a broad range of physics topics and problem-solving approaches, which strongly shape the way I teach.
I recently moved back to India to pursue my passion for teaching and mentoring students more directly. I believe that physics does not have to be intimidating or abstract, and that with the right guidance, clarity, and practice, anyone can excel in it. My teaching philosophy focuses on making physics intuitive, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable by emphasizing conceptual understanding alongside structured problem solving.
During my PhD, I taught and supported introductory physics to undergraduate students through discussion classes, problem-solving sessions, and laboratory instruction. I have also mentored graduate students and early-career researchers in research and development settings. These experiences helped me develop a flexible teaching style that adapts to different backgrounds, learning speeds, and goals.

My teaching approach is centered on clarity, discussion, and building strong intuition before formal problem solving. As a teacher, I focus on helping students understand why a concept works, not just how to apply formulas. I use guided questioning, visual reasoning, and step-by-step breakdowns to identify conceptual gaps and address them directly. This discussion-based method encourages students to think actively and gain confidence in their understanding.
A typical class begins with a short discussion to assess the student’s current understanding, followed by a focused explanation of key ideas using examples and analogies. We then work through problems together, gradually increasing difficulty, and end with a summary of takeaways and strategies the student can use independently. One of my strengths as a teacher is my ability to adapt quickly to different learning styles and pace the session according to the student’s needs.
What sets me apart is my background as a researcher and long-time student myself. Having spent many years learning, teaching, and mentoring at the university level, I understand both the challenges students face and how to overcome them effectively. My classes are intended for high school students (Classes 11 and 12), undergraduate students, and motivated adult learners. My goal is to make physics approachable, structured, and genuinely engaging for every student I work with.
