About Eric
My Background:
I’m interning at Sandia Labs while finishing my undergrad at UNM, and I’m planning to go for a PhD in Physics. Since I’m still right in the middle of all this stuff myself, I know how confusing some parts can be and how to break them down in a simple way.

My approach as a tutor is pretty straightforward: I want students to actually understand the concepts behind the math and physics, not just memorize formulas. At the same time, I think doing lots of practice problems is super important because that’s what builds real confidence and skill. I’m a Physics & Mathematics undergrad at UNM right now, and I’m especially passionate about physics and calculus.
Teaching methods and techniques:
I always adjust based on the student — if it’s someone who just needs the class for a requirement, I keep the theory light and focus on practical ways to solve problems. If they’re into it or planning to go further in STEM, I try to dive deeper into the concepts. Practice problems are a big part of every session because that’s allows me to see the student's thought process and identify flawed logic.
A typical lesson plan
I keep it flexible and base it on what the student needs that day, but it usually goes like this:
Quick check-in on what they’re struggling with or what we covered last time.
Clear breakdown of the new concept with the focus on understanding why it works.
We work through some problems together.
Then they try some on their own while I give instant feedback.
We wrap up with the main takeaways and what to practice before next time.
Who the lessons are for:
I open to work high school, and lower-level undergrad (1st/2nd year) students in Physics and Math. That covers pretty much all math up through Calc 3/ODE's and college Physics 1 and 2. Whether someone’s trying to master the topics or just pass the class, I tailor the lessons to fit what they actually need/want.
