About Yara
My method is to use a combination of several methods. It is important to know the students and adapt lesson content to each case. With children, I really like to use Faber books as a base in combination with extra pieces as necessary. With adults, it depends a lot on the student's level. I've taught beginners, amateurs, conservatory students, and college students. Generally the structure of the lesson includes warm-up, technique, instrument-adapted music training, repertoire reading, music listening, and material submission. In my lessons, I can do a piano and voice/singing combination as well as just piano or just voice.

Yara is a singer, pianist, songwriter and choral conductor with a Master's of Music from the University of Kansas (KU), USA. She obtained her Bachelor's in Piano from the Castelo Branco School of Applied Arts (ESART) in Portugal, where she has also taught piano and choir classes. Yara began her music career as a classical pianist, teaching at various schools, including the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona, Conservatory of Sintra, and Our Lady of the Cape School of Music. She has also studied singing and orchestral and choir conducting, having conducted the Santo Amaro de Oeiras Children's Choir since 2011. As a singer, she began dubbing for Disney films and advertising spots at an early age in the Valentim de Carvalho studios. Yara has sung and recorded nationally and internationally with leading artists such as Mayra Andrade, Julio Pereira, Rui Veloso, Antonio Zambujo, Norton Daiello, Luanda Cozetti, Rogerio Charraz, Pedro Branco, Antonio Portanet, Diogo Picão, Mbye Ebrima, and João Afonso. MAMA, her debut album, was released in 2019.
