About Emily
I am a postgraduate history student with a strong passion for history and academic writing. I have always enjoyed sharing my knowledge and helping others develop their academic skills.
I have extensive experience in historical research and critical analysis, and am particularly interested in helping students strengthen their essay writing and academic skills.
My tutoring style is friendly, patient, and adaptable. I understand that every student learns differently, so I take the time to find what works best for each student.

My teaching techniques include creating a supportive learning environment tailored to each student's individual needs. I am aiming to help students develop their understanding and build confidence in their own abilities.
For history and philosophy, I focus on developing critical thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to construct and support a clear argument.
For essay writing, I can assist students with understanding essay questions, developing their argument, finding and analyzing sources, structuring their work, and improving their writing skills.
Lessons would typically be 60-90 minutes, though I am happy to adjust depending on the student's needs and level of study.
I am currently a postgraduate student continuing my studies in History. I will begin tutoring classes at the University of Canterbury next year. I have experience in academic research and writing essay competition winning papers.
My lessons are suitable for high school students studying History, Philosophy, or related subjects, as well as undergraduate students who would like support with History, Philosophy, essay writing, research, or academic skills. I can work with students across a variety of levels and tailor lessons to their individual goals. This includes help understanding course material, preparing for assessments, or developing their academic writing and analytical skills.
