About Saskia

Hello! My name is Saskia and I am a primary teacher from Glasgow (Scotland) with five years experience. I currently work within the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence (an educational framework that emphasises holistic development, personalised learning, and a broad range of skills for students from ages 3 to 18) and have worked with all primary stages.

I'm happy to help your child in any area of the curriculum and am able to tailor lessons to the needs of the learner. love teaching literacy, particularly due to my journalism background, I feel that literacy can be made fun and enjoyable whilst establishing the key skills needed to achieve at each stage. I also follow a numeracy programme which builds the skills of the learner using a progression of strategies eg. concrete, pictorial, abstract. I strongly believe is one of the most effective ways to learn numeracy skills and ensure that these skills are embedded.

Over the years I have worked with children with various additional support needs and learning abilities. I believe that every child should be supported in their learning and in an environment that promotes learning. I have a wealth of training around Autism and Dyslexia, let me know if you would like me to make any adjustments to my lessons.

I specialised in English as an Additional Language teaching in 2021 and work with children from various backgrounds and cultures. I regularly attend training to ensure that my practice can best support my students. I also have a TEFL qualification and worked in a secondary school in Thailand for a year which gives me a great deal of versatility.

About the lesson

During our initial session, we'll have the opportunity to get to know each other and chat about your objectives. Whether your aim is to provide assistance to your child across various aspects of the primary curriculum or to enhance your own or your child's English proficiency, we'll delve into it. Following this introductory lesson, I will curate a customised series of lessons designed to align with your specific goals.

After each session, I will send you a summary of the learning completed during the lesson and outline the upcoming steps. I firmly believe that learning occurs best when the learner feels at ease and shares a positive rapport with their instructor. This is why my teaching approach combines a relaxed atmosphere with an organised and well-defined framework.
