About Madeleine
Primary teacher with languages and EFL background.
Hi, I have a PGCE in primary with MFL (Languages: Portuguese and Spanish). I've worked in Portugal and Spain since 2003, so I can help with general primary tutoring, but also languages at primary level and above.
I qualified to teach TESOL in 2003 (Trinity College London Certificate), and have 17 years experience of teaching English as a second language as well. I can teach this up to any level: Cambridge exams, IELTS etc.
The youngest ages I've worked with are from age 2, although I don't expect to be tutoring 2 year olds here! I really enjoy working with young children, and I recently qualified as a Montessori teacher as I really wanted to learn more about this philosophy/different methodology, and what I found most interesting was the emphasis on hands-on materials whilst learning, particularly with maths. This is something that is still possible to do via online learning, as we can still use certain materials at home, maths can be taught in a concrete rather than abstract way!
I have the DELE (Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language) qualification in speaking Spanish as a second language, and the Portuguese DIPLE (Intermediate Diploma in Speaking Portuguese).I know first hand how hard it can be to learn new things! I am always studying myself, and am in the middle of a 2 year EY (Early Years) Diploma.
I have a recent DBS police check, and I currently work as a primary teacher at a private, British Montessori school in Spain part-time whilst online tutoring and my final job is as a parent!

My teaching methodology is allowing the children time to respond and think. Following the child (as per the Montessori methodology), and looking for things that interest the child as well as following the curriculum we need to use. I like to find interesting and varied activities to use.
