About Hayley

I wanted to be a teacher throughout my childhood so nothing pleases me more than building a love of learning in others and facilitating students to reach their goals. I am a dedicated and passionate educator with 16 years of experience. I hold a BA in Primary Education as well as a Masters in Education and Leadership. Teaching is not my only passion: in my spare time I enjoy playing chess, knitting, practising the guitar and piano and I've recently started gardening. I've also been learning Italian for the last five years since living for a short time in Italy - this has been fantastic for deepening my understanding of the challenges EAL learners face.

About the lesson

All lessons are tailored exactly to each student's needs and interests through ongoing assessments as well as an initial consultation of child/parent aims for the sessions. Sessions typically last an hour and include a review of previous learning, tailored support with a new skill/current goal and a review game/quiz. I match sessions to each student, whether you want a 'gamified' approach or a focus on exam techniques and practice. I have extensive education experience with 16 years as a qualified primary teacher. I have taught all primary age groups and worked in a number of roles, including a leadership role focusing on whole school curriculum development. I have tutored 1:1 and small groups online for five years, in which time I have expanded my support to both secondary and adults (ESOL) as well as becoming a consultant for other tutors. I also tutor for the Cambridge English exams (Pre A1 through to C2). I teach children and adults around the world including China, Malaysia, Australia and Russia - I love this virtual travel experience and chance to learn about each student's country and culture.
