About Tyrone

Hey! I’ve been tutoring since 2020 and am currently in my third year of medical school. During my gap year, I worked as an academic mentor and teaching assistant at a well-established private school, supporting students across a range of abilities and subjects. I’ve always been passionate about helping students reach their full potential — especially because I understand how challenging it can feel to tackle difficult topics or manage exam pressure alone. My approach is supportive, structured, and tailored to how each student learns, whether that’s building confidence, mastering tricky concepts, or preparing effectively for exams. If you’re looking for clear explanations, personalised guidance, and someone genuinely invested in your progress, I’d be happy to help make learning feel more manageable and rewarding. Fully DBS checked.

About the lesson

I tutor secondary school students, with a strong focus on GCSE level. My lessons are designed to build a solid understanding of core topics, particularly areas students may have encountered earlier in secondary school but not fully mastered. By strengthening these foundations, students are better prepared to tackle more complex topics with confidence. As a student myself, I understand that studying can sometimes feel stressful or repetitive. I aim to deliver lessons that are structured, supportive, and engaging, combining clear explanations with an approachable teaching style. This helps students stay motivated and involved, which leads to better learning outcomes. Lessons are usually one hour long, although they can be extended depending on the needs of the student. During my year at St Dunstan’s College, I mentored over thirty students each week, gaining experience working with a wide range of abilities and learning needs. Alongside more than three years of private tutoring experience, this allows me to confidently adapt my teaching to suit each individual student.

I told Tyrone I was aiming for a Grade 7, even though before he started tutoring me, i was only on a Grade 5 and with his help I got my Grade 7!!! He isn’t like other tutors, he’s so chill, we can have a laugh, but is was very intentional and direct, making sure I always understood the methods learnt, wouldn’t put up with any slack from me and making sure the work would always get done.
Thanks for all your help :)
