About Masato
Hi, my name is Masato Asanuma living in Canada from Japan. I currently work as a Japanese tutor as a freelance contractor with another company. I teach both online and in person. I also work at the Japanese school in Halifax, Nova Scotia as a teacher to teach Japanese as a subject. History and social science as my major at university and political studies as a minor, I can approach to teach from perspective of historical background of the Japanese language and social issues today. Not only the language itself, but you can learn Japan deeper with me!

I can evaluate and assess a student's level of Japanese first. Then, we can go through together what their goal is, what type of materials, learning activities the student prefers. Then, I prepare lessons based on their level of the language. For example, if the student is elementary level, I teach how to pronounce Hiragana and Katakana first. Also, I teach how to write them together. Then, I can provide a little true-false quiz as a fun activity so that the student gets motivated to do and enjoy lessons. I use a specific textbook for students. We can discuss together if they want to use my textbook or their own. I will provide homework every lesson to keep students motivated to study. I will ask them to find three new words and compose a sentence by using those new words they picked up. In addition, I will ask them to work on a textbook. One chapter from the textbook will be their homework to do prior to lessons and we review together. I will provide exams for students periodically to see how much they improve. We can watch and listen to dialogs of conversation in Japanese online to practice listening comprehension and speaking.
