About Bex
I have studied saxophone at both the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and gained my masters as a scholar at the Royal College of Music. Through my studies at both world renowned institutions, I have been equipped with a solid foundation in saxophone technique, music theory and performance.
In addition to solo performance, my enjoyment extends further to the arts and ensemble performance, collaborating with small groups and quartets, developing strong leadership skills and confidence in coaching across all levels, as well as arranging projects and workshops around combining music and visual art to aid learning. I am a keen artist and have worked with many musicians to create artwork that reflects the music we hear, an exciting tool I am developing in teaching as well.
I have a strong foundation in the flute, having also studied this at conservatoire level, as well as the clarinet and piano at beginner to intermediate level. Although classically trained, I am able to teach jazz to intermediate/ casual standard and have experience in jazz performance.

I am an experienced teacher of saxophone, flute and music theory for all ages and abilities, as well as offering clarinet and piano at beginner to intermediate level.
I am committed to creating a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for my students, with a focus on technique and inspiring musicality. Looking at each individual student and working with them to find what approach works best, what they enjoy and want to achieve out of the saxophone is important. No two students are the same.
Having experienced nearly 20 years of teaching styles and methods, I am passionate about introducing the arts to as many people, and introduce new approaches to classical music, and most of all, make sure music is fun!
Whether you are working towards an audition, want to work on grades or just want to pick up an instrument for pure enjoyment, music is for everyone, accessible and inclusive to all ages and abilities!
I aim to provide an encouraging, empathetic and creative approach to lessons to allow students to feel valued, to motivate and encourage students on their musical journeys. We will work together to set goals and targets, work on what makes effective (and fun!) practice, and build on confidence as an overall musician.
Lessons can be 30, 45, 60 minutes. 30 minutes is perfect for young beginners whereas up to 60 minutes is great for older or more advanced students.
