About Carlo
Carlo Josue is a seasoned independent musician, soloist, composer, and arranger with over 20 years of experience, proficient in 9 instruments and deeply passionate about Jazz and Latin music. A distinguished graduate of the Colburn School in Los Angeles, Carlo has mastered a diverse range of styles, including classical, traditional and contemporary jazz, Latin jazz, smooth jazz, funk, and pop. His versatility extends to Cuban music and international popular music.
Carlo's exceptional skills have earned him notable accolades, including the International Jojazz Competition Award (Havana, Cuba, 2014) and the National Veerkamp Saxophone Award (Mexico City, 2017). He has been actively involved in international tours across the United States, Cuba, Mexico, and Canada, performing with Big Bands, trios, and jazz quintets. His international presence includes prestigious jazz festivals such as the Festival Jojazz in Cuba, the International Chamber Music Festival in Cancún, and the Jazz Festivals in La Paz and Los Cabos.
In addition to his festival performances, Carlo has recorded two albums as a jazz and Latin jazz soloist. His extensive experience includes working with renowned cruise lines like Norwegian Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean, where he performed on major ships such as the Bliss, Symphony of the Seas, and Allure of the Seas. Carlo has also contributed to Broadway productions, including the casts of Hairspray (2019) and Jersey Boys (2020). His diverse and extensive career underscores his ability to adapt to various musical environments and styles, solidifying his reputation as an internationally acclaimed musician.

With over 20 years of experience as a professional saxophonist, I offer a comprehensive and personalized approach to teaching saxophone and music. My lessons are designed to cater to students of all levels, from beginners just starting out to advanced players seeking to refine their skills.
Teaching Method and Techniques: My teaching method combines classical techniques with contemporary practices, drawing from my extensive experience in Jazz, Pop, Classical, Latin, and Modern music. I focus on developing a solid technical foundation while also encouraging personal expression and creativity. Through a blend of structured exercises and improvisation, students learn to master various styles and genres. I emphasize a strong grasp of music theory, which enhances overall musicality and performance.
Typical Lesson Plan: Each lesson begins with a warm-up session to improve tone and technique. We then move on to repertoire that aligns with the student’s interests and goals, whether it’s a jazz standard, a pop song, or a classical piece. I incorporate sight-reading, ear training, and improvisational exercises tailored to the student’s level. Lessons conclude with a review of progress and setting goals for the next session.
