About Yutong
I am a final-year Education Studies student at University College London (UCL), with over five years of tutoring experience spanning diverse cultural and geographical contexts, including rural Tanzania and rural communities in China. These experiences have equipped me with a highly adaptable and culturally responsive teaching approach.
As an Education Studies student, I have developed a strong grounding in pedagogy, learning theory, and the national curriculum, which informs and enriches my practice as a tutor. As a non-native speaker who has navigated the demands of academic study at a leading institution, I bring first-hand understanding of the challenges learners face, alongside the strategies needed to overcome them. Having completed GCSEs, A-levels, and undergraduate study, I also have extensive experience with written assessment across multiple levels, giving me a thorough understanding of what examiners expect and how to help students meet those standards effectively.
I am a compassionate, sociable, and communicative individual, and I have a moral passion for seeing my students progress. My motivation to tutor stems from the genuine fulfilment I experience when my students achieve their goals.
Subjects offered: I offer tutoring in Psychology, Geography, and History.
For Psychology, I primarily teach the AQA specification, though I am also familiar with Edexcel and Cambridge International (CIE). The topics I cover include: Forensic Psychology, Biopsychology, Research Methods, Stress, Issues and Debates, Psychopathology, Attachment, Gender, Memory, Social Influence, Approaches to Psychology, and Attention.
For History, I teach exclusively on the OCR specification, covering the following topics: the Cold War, Germany, Tudor England, Civil Rights in the United States, the Weimar Republic, and Chinese history.
For Geography, I primarily teach the AQA specification, with familiarity across Edexcel and CIE as well.
Beyond the core subjects listed, I am also happy to offer support in Education Studies and related areas, including Special Educational Needs, History of Education, archival research, youth culture, and Chinese education history. I offer a flexible teaching approach tailored to the preferences of each student, whether they favour content-focused sessions, exam-focused preparation, or discussion-based learning. Having supported students through A-level study for three years and GCSE study for five years, I am familiar with exam techniques, study strategies and the contents. Central to my approach is clear and consistent communication with students, which allows me to identify their needs, preferred learning styles, and areas of strength and development, enabling me to adapt my teaching accordingly.
