About Caitlin
I have recently completed my Master’s degree in Psychology and am due to formally graduate in December. Throughout my studies, I’ve always been drawn to teaching and supporting others—whether helping classmates refine essays, preparing for exams, or finding study techniques that make difficult topics finally “click.” Teaching feels like a natural extension of what I enjoy most: understanding how people learn and helping them realise just how capable they are. I approach tutoring with professionalism, patience, and genuine enthusiasm. My background in psychology gives me a strong foundation in learning processes, motivation, and communication, which I bring into every lesson. I want students to feel supported, confident, and able to take ownership of their progress. Watching someone grow, overcome challenges, and recognise their own strengths is what makes tutoring so meaningful to me. I aim to create a friendly, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and developing skills at their own pace. My goal is not just to help you achieve immediate academic results, but to give you tools that will continue to serve you long after our sessions.

My approach to English tutoring is patient, structured, and fully tailored to each student. I start by identifying how you learn best—whether that’s through discussion, visual breakdowns of ideas, step-by-step modelling, or practising with real exam questions. From there, I build lessons that focus on clear explanation, guided practice, and developing strong, transferable skills in reading, writing, and critical analysis. Lessons typically last around an hour (but can be adjusted per your preference), giving enough time to introduce new techniques, work through examples together, and let you apply them with support. I draw on experience helping students at both school and university with essay writing, close reading, revision strategies, and exam preparation. This includes working with learners who benefit from alternative approaches when standard methods don’t quite click. My lessons are designed for high-school students working at GCSE or Scottish National 5/ Higher levels, as well as anyone looking to strengthen core English skills such as structuring essays, analysing texts, or improving clarity and confidence in their writing.

Details
I currently charge £20/h for lessons, with a £5 travel charge for in-person. The travel charge applies to those living locally, however depending on my current circumstances would be willing to discuss travelling further distances for an amended extra charge. If these prices are not suitable for you then please still get in touch so we can work something out.
