About Laura
From being scared of Maths for most of my secondary education, to achieving a distinction in a Masters in Pure Mathematics from Imperial College London (top 3 UK university for Maths), I've experienced first-hand how transformative effective teaching can be for confidence, knowledge acquisition, and love of learning. I am passionate about playing a role in transforming a student's relationship with Maths to help them succeed.
After completing my masters, I decided I wanted to develop my teaching ability so I could share my knowledge and help to make Maths more accessible for all.
As well as tutoring students in 11+ and GCSE Maths, I have taken on various different roles within education for the past 3 years which have provided me tutoring opportunities; academic mentor in Maths in a secondary school, education worker in an East London learning centre teaching English and Maths, and teaching English as a foreign language to adults and young children aged 3+.

My approach to tutoring is patient, encouraging, and confidence-building. I want to assist students in overcoming their Maths anxiety, build their independence, and guide them to achieving high marks in their exams.
I offer lessons to all students for:
- A/AS level Maths and Further Maths (specifically core and further pure modules)
- GCSE Maths
- KS3 Maths curriculum
- 11+ Maths papers
- SATS Maths papers
I personalise sessions to address students' gaps in learning, and chunk information so the student is able to digest complex concepts. I use examples and visual aids to help students grasp a method or concept, then provide lots of opportunities for observed independent work - providing prompts and encouragment until a student can answer questions completely independently.
For exam preparation, I build students exam technique through working through materials from exam providers, exam-style questions on every topic and past papers to correctly interpret the questions and maximise grade potential.
I offer 1 hr or 2 hr lessons between 4-9pm on weekdays, and on weekends (times can be arranged on an individual basis).
