About Melanie
English is a subject I have always been passionate about - studying it up to degree level (my degree was History with English), as well as teaching it to students. I love reading and also enjoy helping people improve their English.
After qualifying I worked in high school for some time (as a History teacher), before I moved to primary school and then I moved to teach adults in functional skills subjects of English and Maths.

Language Techniques
Clear lesson materials will be used on screen and I use the "I do, we do, you do" method. The lessons are varied where I create a welcome and relaxed atmosphere. You will notice a big difference having 1-2-1 lessons - you don't have to worry when you make a mistake (that's how you learn!) or anybody seeing it and there's fewer distractions. If you are a GCSE student: I am unable to help with Shakespeare and unfortunately I am not familiar enough with the English GCSE papers, however, if you want help with your general English, get in touch!
