About Elizabeth
Outside of tutoring and my work in chemistry, I’m someone who genuinely enjoys learning, problem solving and getting excited about how the world works. Science has always been a big part of my life, and I love being able to share that enthusiasm with students in a way that feels approachable and encouraging.
I recently moved to Auckland after spending three years in Wellington, and I’m enjoying getting to know the city. When I’m not working or tutoring, I can usually be found going for walks, reading, exploring new places, or spending time with my little dog Rocky, who keeps life very entertaining.
I know that science can sometimes feel intimidating, especially when students lose confidence or feel like everyone else understands something before they do. I really care about creating a calm, supportive space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building their confidence at their own pace.
I’m friendly, patient and reliable, and I try to bring warmth and curiosity into every lesson. My aim is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them feel more capable, less stressed and hopefully a little more interested in science along the way.

Hi, I’m Lizzie, an experienced chemistry and science tutor with 5 years of tutoring experience in the UK and 3 years in Wellington, New Zealand. I have recently moved to Auckland and am excited to support new students, both online and in person.
My approach to tutoring is friendly, interactive and confidence-focused. I believe science becomes much easier when students understand the “why” behind a topic, rather than simply memorizing facts or formulas. I tailor each lesson to the individual student, taking time to identify gaps in understanding, explain concepts clearly, and build skills step by step.
My lessons often include a mix of clear explanations, worked examples, diagrams, practice questions, mini activities, revision techniques and real-world examples from chemistry and industry. I encourage students to ask questions freely and aim to create a relaxed learning environment where they feel comfortable making mistakes, having a go, and building confidence.
A typical lesson is 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged for exam preparation, revision blocks or more intensive support.
I hold an undergraduate degree and a Master’s degree in Chemistry, and I have worked for 10 years in the chemical industry. This experience helps me bring science to life beyond the textbook, showing students how chemistry connects to the real world.
My lessons are suitable for primary and secondary school students, including those needing general science support, chemistry tutoring, confidence building, homework help, exam preparation and NCEA support. I am also happy to adapt lessons for students who need extra patience, encouragement or a more creative approach to learning.
