About Shalini
I am a qualified doctor who has been learning Carnatic Music for the over 15 years. I have a true burning passion to keep the ancient art alive and share it with the rest of the world.
I have performed and choreographed many pieces together for concerts and shows. I have a passion for fusion with Western, Hindustani and African styles to add a different dimension to the ancient artform.

I teach over Skype or any method of video-calling. Each lesson is most likely to be between 60-90 minutes long, depending on the level of the student.
Vocal exercises are imperative to warm up the vocal cords and also fine-tune one's control over the voice. So the first 10 minutes focusses on that.
After that, we would go through new compositions, both singing and also exploring the deeper meaning behind the pieces. With Carnatic compositions, there is always a beautiful story and history related to each piece, which I believe should be appreciated to truly enjoy singing the piece.
