About Sam
Hi! I'm Sam, a Materials Science and Engineering student at the University of Sheffield, on track to graduate this summer with a minimum 2:1. With an A-Level in Physics and years of hands-on engineering experience, I have a genuine passion for the subject that I love sharing with others.
Beyond my academic background, I have extensive experience working with and teaching people of all ages and abilities. As a former member of the Air Cadets, I regularly mentored younger cadets and taught members of the public — experience that sharpened my ability to communicate clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and lead by example. I also hold a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, which involved volunteering as a flight simulator instructor for cadets aged 13–16.
I pride myself on being patient, approachable, and encouraging. I understand that Physics can feel daunting, and my goal is always to build confidence alongside ability. Every student I work with receives my full attention and a session tailored entirely to their needs.
You can trust that your lessons will be delivered by a tutor with the academic qualifications, and who genuinely cares about your progress and wants to see you succeed.

I am a Materials Science and Engineering graduate from the University of Sheffield (predicted minimum 2:1), with an A-Level in Physics, offering one-to-one GCSE Physics tutoring tailored to help students aged 14-16 gain the confidence and exam technique they need to meet their potential.
My lessons run for one hour and are built around past paper questions and exam-style practice. Rather than simply working through content, I focus on teaching students how to read and interpret what a question is actually asking, a skill that can make a real difference to results. By breaking down mark schemes and examiner expectations, students learn to structure their answers precisely and pick up every mark available.
With hands-on engineering experience and a strong academic background, I bring real-world context to abstract concepts, making Physics feel relevant and accessible. Whether your child is struggling with the basics or looking to push for a top grade, sessions are adapted to their individual needs and pace.
Lessons are ideal for:
GCSE Physics students (Years 10–11, or earlier if you want a head start!)
Students looking to improve exam performance and confidence
Those who benefit from a practical, methodical, yet conversational teaching style
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Sam is my course mate and we recently had a group project we both worked on together. I appreciated the way he helped me understand things more clearly when I struggled on specific parts of the project and also how patient he was with me when trying to understand it. Due to this experience I would totally recommend Sam as a teacher.
