About Krisztina

I am a qualified Secondary Design & Technology teacher, architectural designer and creative professional with a degree in Architecture and a PGCE in D&T (Secondary Education). I have over 15 years of experience across education and the creative industries, including architecture, graphic design, fashion, photography, art and design, 3D design and Design & Technology.
Alongside teaching, I run an independent architectural design studio and work on contracts with established architectural practices, allowing me to bring current professional design knowledge and real-world experience into my teaching.

I am proud that around 80% of my GCSE D&T students achieve grades 8 or 9. While academic achievement is important, I believe these results also reflect my ability to motivate students, build trusting relationships and encourage them to believe in their own potential. I set high but achievable expectations, adapt my teaching to their strengths and encourage students to take ownership of their learning and go the extra mile.
For me, genuine engagement is the starting point for successful learning. As a teacher, I want to get to know each student, understand what excites them and discover where their strengths lie. We then build on those strengths together.

I do not believe in forcing every student into the same mould because that does not necessarily lead to good grades or great design. Students achieve their best when they are genuinely interested in what they are designing and can see their own ideas, strengths and personality reflected in their work.
Design & Technology is a wonderfully broad subject because almost everything around us has been designed by someone. I want students to understand that there is a place for their individual strengths within this world, whether they are drawn to electronics, robotics, textiles, textile technologies, smart materials, timber, metals, CAD or other emerging areas of design and technology.
My role is to help students identify what they are good at, develop those strengths and use them to create products they genuinely enjoy designing. When students are engaged with their own ideas, they are more willing to experiment, respond to feedback, refine their work and push themselves further. That is where I believe real learning, confidence and outstanding results come from, and that is what will help them become successful adults.

I am passionate about design, innovation and sustainable thinking. I actively keep up to date with emerging technologies, materials, CAD and developments in modern design, and bring this knowledge into my teaching to help students understand the exciting opportunities available to future designers.

I am friendly, approachable and patient, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, experimenting with ideas, learning from constructive feedback and developing the confidence to become independent, creative and thoughtful designers.

I offer friendly, personalised lessons for students aged 11 to 18, from KS3 through to GCSE and beyond. Lessons typically last 50 minutes, with double sessions available.

My teaching is based on the design cycle, design debate and product iteration, helping students understand how professional designers think, develop ideas, test, evaluate and improve. I encourage collaboration and constructive feedback, teaching students to confidently respond to feedback and see it as an essential part of growth and innovation.

For theory and exam revision, I use an active, structured approach that connects knowledge to real design situations. We break down key topics such as materials, manufacturing processes, sustainability, systems and technical principles using questioning, visual examples and exam style questions. I encourage students to explain, apply and justify their knowledge rather than simply memorise it, helping them develop the confidence to tackle unfamiliar exam questions.

I bring current industry knowledge of CAD, emerging technologies, sustainable thinking, materials and modern design practices into my lessons, helping students connect classroom learning with the opportunities available to future designers.

I am friendly, patient and understanding, adapting my approach to each student's ability, confidence and learning style. My aim is for students to gradually internalise the design process so that, by the end of their GCSEs, creative and critical design thinking becomes natural to them.
