About Danielle

I am a qualified Primary Teacher, teaching full time in an Outstanding Birmingham school that is a feeder for local grammar schools.
I confirmed my desire to become a primary teacher after a successful two years completing my Level 2 and 3 Diploma in the Children and Young People’s Workforce. The children are the core of my motivation with a personal ethos of life-long learning. I feel there is real satisfaction in creating a learning environment, where children have the opportunity to continuously thrive. My degree in Primary Education (with QTS) with a specialism in the Early years (4-year route) served further to enhance my knowledge and understanding of working with children.
I have a full Bachelor of Education degree along with an enhanced specialism in the early years. During the four years I have spent training at Newman University, I have widened and developed my existing knowledge of children in their early years through a range of taught modules throughout my degree, enhancement modules, masters modules and school-based projects including enhancement modules that required a school placement to be sourced by myself. Some taught modules on the course that I have found invaluable have included thinking about planning outdoor learning and trips and evaluating the educational benefits of these; comparing policy and practice across teaching in the UK context and beyond; researching areas of interest to myself within my specialism such as the separation of twin siblings upon entry to reception, for the purposes of my dissertation in which I achieved a First and the context of assessment in early years across the UK; and reflecting upon my own professional practice.
As a teacher, I am able to value and appreciate children and provide a creative and supportive learning climate that meets their needs. Understanding the needs of children in your class and being able to respond to these effectively, ensuring all children make good progress is an important aspect of the teachers’ role and I whole-heartedly agree and understand the importance of this.

I have also travelled to Hong Kong to teach in an english learning programme for six weeks each summer to children 11+.
