About Aarav
Hi, I'm Aarav Shah. I'm a Year 12 student. I got straight 9s. Here's why I'd love to teach.
Over the course of Years 9, 10 and 11, I learnt just as much from the things I got wrong as from the things I got right. It took time to work out how to revise effectively, prepare for exams and turn understanding into marks. Looking back, I reckon I could have made the process much less stressful, had I understood those lessons.
That's one of the main reasons I'd love to tutor.
I'd like to help students learn those lessons earlier than I did: cutting out unproductive hours, making revision feel more manageable and helping them approach their exams with greater confidence. GCSE success isn't down to being naturally 'clever'; it's about understanding the right methods and strategies to turn knowledge into marks.
Having completed my GCSEs recently, I remember exactly what it feels like to be in that position — the pressure, the frustration and the occasional feeling that there is simply too much to do. My aim is to provide clear, practical and relatable guidance rather than simply talking at a student.
I've had my share of great teachers, and I'm aware of the huge impact they can have. If you give me that chance, I'd love to provide that same support to another student.

My lessons are aimed at students in Years 9–11. Rather than simply reteaching everything they have already heard in school, I want to identify exactly where a student is losing marks and work from there. Depending on the student, this might involve explaining a difficult concept, working through exam questions together, improving exam technique, creating an effective revision strategy or targeting particular weaknesses.
Having completed my GCSEs in 2026, my experience of the courses and exams is extremely recent. I know what GCSE revision actually feels like, the pressure students experience and the mistakes that are easy to make when preparing for exams. I also remember which explanations helped me understand difficult topics — and which didn't.
I aim to keep lessons concise, focused and interactive. I don't want to spend an hour talking at a student; they should be answering questions, explaining their thinking and applying what they have learnt.
Lessons will normally last 45–60 minutes, although I am happy to offer shorter sessions where this would suit the student better.
