About Joe
I retired from teaching high school mathematics in 2024 after 24 years in the classroom. During this time I also led a number of student teams in various mathematical competitions we won as well as co-authoring 20+ articles that were published with my research students. I also led two separate student groups to be selected for the Lemelson-MIT InvenTeams program and we were granted a United States patent for each of our inventions.

With my experience as an educator, I have a wealth of experience working with students of all levels. In walking through a lesson, I use a Socratic approach, allowing students to talk through their thinking as well as hear myself talk through my thoughts and approaches to problems and concepts. We will also ensure you know all the proper steps, usages, and shortcuts of the graphing calculator and/or Desmos. It is my experience that you/we learn best through talking through our learning and thoughts to identify misconceptions or gaps while simultaneously solidifying those concepts we know. I am ready to work with any high school student as well as college students through the Calculus level.
