About Tessa
With over 4 years of experience as a singing tutor and a BM in Jazz Vocal Performance, I offer a well-rounded and performance-focused approach to vocal training. I teach students from school age through adulthood, including college-level and professional performers. My speciality lies in musical theatre and Broadway singing, where vocal skill must support character, story, and stage presence. I work closely with students on acting through song, helping them communicate emotion clearly and authentically. Confidence on stage is built gradually through technique, awareness, and expressive freedom. I place strong emphasis on belt technique, ensuring it is healthy, controlled, and sustainable. Vocal agility is another important focus, especially for performers navigating complex or fast-changing material. My jazz background supports strong ear training, harmony awareness, improvisation skills, and music theory understanding. I believe these skills enhance versatility and confidence. Every lesson is personalised to the student’s goals, voice type, and experience level. I prioritise safe vocal techniques and long-term vocal health above all else. My teaching environment is interactive, supportive, and encouraging. I am excited to help you grow as a singer and prepare confidently for the stage.

My teaching methodology is built on the belief that singing should feel honest and connected. I help singers understand that their voice is a tool for storytelling. Lyric interpretation is a major focus so every word carries meaning. Emotional connection grows when singers understand the story they are telling. We practise storytelling through singing by exploring phrasing and intention. I guide students in communicating clearly with an audience. Authentic expression is always supported and respected. Technique is taught in a simple way that supports ease. I work very well with narrative musical theatre styles, including Fiddler on the Roof and The Music Man. I dedicate myself to refining how singers emotionally move listeners. Lessons are supportive and focused. I help singers feel confident sharing emotion through sound. Over time, students truly embody their songs and perform with purpose.
