About Xavier

I am passionate about learning as I believe it is life and there would be no idea nor way of life without learning. With that epigram, I would analogize my persona as a self-regulative professional who passionately imbues, advocates or hyphens radical, altruistic, transformative and adaptable learning experiences to affect both the self-concept and learning discipline in a learner or a student to accommodate or secure their future ambitions or aspirations. As a premise or post hoc, I use the reverse maxim to springboard knowledge into myself as in a trope and epithet akin to life-long attitudes and, then, after filtering the vice's effectiveness, I eagerly implant or pass on any knowledge I sire by unfolding or shaping (transferring) refined concepts into all adults-in-the-becoming that I am in contact with so that they may become flexible and competent leaders in their fields. Also, I should add that I am a final year student in the faculty of Educational Sciences in the department Humanities at Walter Sisulu University in Mthatha in this year of 2021, and my majors are English and Geography. Additionally, I received an honorary certificate for being a tutor in 2019 in the module of school management and I received a certificate of excellence in Curriculum Study in Geography in the same year as well. Albeit, let not the reverse achievements deter possible glances of my testimony about myself aspiring towards my long-term goal of being a teacher, tutor, facilitator and lecturer of English for learners and students. Finally, I have provisional SACE registration. Thanks in advance for reading my background.

My concise pedagogy: NB* The new ATP (Annual Teaching Plan is my first and foremost priority) 1) Teaching styles: A.) Transmission Reception = horizontal, lateral or facilitation transference of theoretical knowledge. B.) Behaviour Shaping = chronological or structured concept-based attitude to identify, comprehend, apply, analyse, synthesize and evaluate contextual and measured information, assertive routines and tailored skills/norms/coded techniques to spur original models from general and seminal artifacts, or patterned ideals through communication teaching methods attached to assignments, case studies, oral presentation structure or classwork in both learner and teacher-centered approaches. C.) Interactionist = Teacher provides deductive rules and learner uses them to solve problems in a learner and teacher-centered approach that is attached to PBL (Problem Based Learning), case studies, debates, role play or content assimilation 2) Teaching Methods: A) In geography lessons, I employ brainstorming, question and answer, communicative, lecture, demonstrative, and enquiry methods. B) In English lessons, I assign communicative language teaching in combination with text-based approach as per CAPS requirement since 2011, self-activity, role play, debates, reporting, or case study methods and I synthesize all the methods with language skills (reading, listening, speaking, writing and oral communication) simultaneously. NB* Teaching methods will match equal learner responses as a teaching method goes hand in hand with an objective, teacher and learner activities during and at the end of the lesson. So, no pedagogy is to be taken as in the outdated traditional teacher-centered approach where quantity overlaps quality or where learners are classified to be dormant (without any knowledge) during learning but the latter is rather the case of the reverse. Learners don't need a previous lesson to be taught from scratch a certain topic or subtopic as they have many social, cultural, psychological and other contextual milieus that are abstractly archived in each learner as previous knowledge to offer during teaching and learning as a meeting place or hosting ground to channel new or repairing existing knowledge. 3) Learning styles: In regard to the learning styles that I accommodate for, I shape subject content in kinesthetic, auditory, smell, taste and visual learning styles through PowerPoint presentations, drawings or sample models of reality as ICT (Information Communication Technology) devices to channel conceptual learning. Ultimately, the goal for a learner as per the CAPS policy is for learners to become life-long learners in any field they respectively choose to venture into for the development of South Africa. So, learners must always be in this cognitive learning stage model which is from paying attention to what is to be learned, gaining interest in what is to be learned, experimenting with new knowledge, trial and error process to applying what is learned which is a cyclic learning conveyor belt to adapt to any respective learning discipline in reality. 4) My approach to learning and teaching*: Then, I focus more on learner-centered approaches as compared to teacher or resource-centered approaches to host teaching and learning milieus for the intention to produce independent adults (self-regulative) and it is ultimately a CAPS requirement to focus more on learner-centered milieus in teaching and learning. 5) Activities: In activities, I prefer comprehension tasks, locating or tabulating tasks, research-based tasks, role playing, debates, puzzles, reorganization tasks, diagrams or legend-based, rule or pattern-based tasks, imitation tasks (like create your own poem using a structure of a sonnet) and case study as a dialogic teaching discourse for individuals or group learning. NB* The above pedagogy is only a guide to the teaching and learning nouveau and milieu I employ or designate as the vice is extremely context dependent on the learner(s) style of learning, topic, objective, assessment criterion and level or background of the learner(s). Also, new methods, activities, strategies of teaching, approaches to teaching and learning as well as learning styles are always being available for greater flexibility as per policy requirements or academic discipline advancements so changes to the above are to be expected to be radicalized and constantly updated.
