About Sarah

Hello there, my name is Sarah. I always find introductions to be tricky, but here we go. I would consider myself to be somewhat serious, or rather, intense about topics I'm passionate about. That said, I try to sprinkle in some humor. I'm a bit of a nerd and I'd also consider myself to be a creative person.

For a little backstory, I grew up on a farm and spent my days studying nature and trying to capture it through art. As I got older, my goal was to become an animator. However, in college, when I learned how to code, I fell in love with it. After I received my degree, I was given the opportunity to teach at Pratt as an adjunct professor.

One thing I always tell my students is that you don't have to be tech-savvy or good at math to code. I often use the example that I myself, grew up not using computers all that often. The point I'm making is, learning how to use a tool, be it a computer or a pencil, is a skill you can gain, and with the right pacing and guidance, be able to learn such a skill with ease. It all comes down to if you know what you really want to get out of your education.

I currently freelance making websites. In my free time, if I'm not playing a video game, I like to 3D model, draw (both digital and traditional), play piano, dance (not very good at it, but I love to shuffle), and spend time with my guinea pigs (Tilly and Hijiki).

If you're interested in starting lessons, don't hesitate to reach out. Thanks for taking the time to get to know me and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Teaching Method
Whenever I begin my lessons, I like to take time to understand your goals, interests, the kind of learner you are, and your current skill sets. This way, the lessons are tailored to your needs. I've worked with a wide range of people, some needing more accommodations than others. I'm flexible and I make it a top priority to be adaptable.

Lesson Plan
Generally speaking, the way I begin a syllabus is to identify the main goal, and then I consider a final project that would be representative of such a goal. Once I've established an end goal, and I have an understanding of your current skills, I can then break down lessons week by week. Per lesson, I usually have 1 to 2 major goals to accomplish.

Why Work With Me
I'm experienced in teaching and I take pride in my abilities to communicate as well as my skills in the topics I teach. I'm thorough and adaptive. I'm also an avid learner and listener.
