About Paul
I am a longtime newspaper journalist with 20 years experience before becoming a public school teacher. I am a native of Houston, Texas and am in my 16th year of teaching, 14th ESL. All of those years were with Humble ISD. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with special education students in the general education classroom and 10 years teaching dyslexia in a small-group setting. Moreover, I taught ESL at the community college level for three years and participated in a volunteer ESL program in which I taught adults English in Poland during the summer of 2024.
I graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas with a major in journalism and double minor in English/history.

I have an excellent track record of success. My students have gone from virtually zero English to attending major universities such as the University of Houston, University of Texas Austin and UT Dallas. I am known for being able to connect with my students. Moreover, I excel at meeting students' needs and forming long-lasting relationships. A former supervisor said I have a "gift for teaching small groups." Last, I am well-versed in the four English domains: reading, listening, speaking and writing. Improvement is most important. It's not where you start, it's where you finish. My ultimate goal is for all my students to speak and write like a native speaker.
