About Malcolm
I have 12+ years of experience as a Piano tutor and teach school students, college students, and working professionals. I am committed to creating a friendly and supportive environment where learners can improve their piano skills without feeling pressured.
I believe teaching should be adapted to the student rather than expecting every student to learn in the same way. I first understand their current level, musical goals, interests, learning pace, and practice routine.
My lessons include piano fundamentals, finger technique, scales, chords, rhythm, music theory, notation, sight-reading, ear training, song learning, improvisation, and performance skills. I use demonstrations, guided practice, and real musical examples to make learning practical.
My teaching philosophy is based on communication, patience, flexibility, understanding, and motivation. I encourage students to ask questions and discuss their difficulties. I believe open communication helps identify learning problems early and makes lessons more effective.
I also help students develop good practice habits. I teach them how to break difficult pieces into smaller sections, work slowly, improve timing, and gradually build speed and confidence.
A notable achievement in my career is gaining 9 years of teaching experience with learners from different ages and backgrounds. This has helped me develop strong adaptability and become more confident in supporting different learning needs.
My goal is to help students become independent musicians who can confidently learn and perform music. Whether you want to start from the basics, improve your existing skills, or prepare for a performance, I provide structured and personalized lessons.

My piano teaching methodology is based on Adaptation to Learning Styles, Flexibility, Collaboration, and Positivity. I believe students should develop strong musical skills while enjoying the process of learning piano.
I start by understanding each student's current level, preferred learning style, musical interests, and goals. I then design lessons that balance technical exercises, music theory, practical playing, and enjoyable songs.
Students learn important skills such as posture, hand position, finger coordination, note reading, rhythm, scales, chords, sight-reading, ear training, and musical expression. I use demonstrations, written guidance, listening activities, repetition, and practical exercises to make learning clear.
Flexibility allows me to adjust the lesson pace and difficulty according to each student's progress. I provide extra guidance when necessary and introduce new challenges when students are ready.
Collaboration helps students become active in their musical development. I encourage them to share their interests, choose appropriate pieces, discuss challenges, and set realistic goals.
My positive approach creates a friendly environment where students can ask questions and learn from mistakes. I focus on progress and encourage students to develop confidence through regular practice.
Along with piano, I can teach music theory, keyboard skills, rhythm, chords, sight-reading, ear training, basic composition, and music appreciation. My goal is to make piano education simple, practical, enjoyable, and rewarding while helping students become confident musicians.
