About Paulus
Hi! I'm Paulus — a Computer Science and Engineering graduate from The Ohio State University GPA and a specialization in Artificial Intelligence. Over the course of my degree, I was honored on the Dean's List each semester of enrollment and built a strong foundation in software engineering, data structures, algorithms, databases, and AI.
My teaching experience goes beyond just knowing the material. I served as a Teaching Assistant for a database course at Ohio State, where I provided one-on-one tutoring and graded assignments for university-level students. I also had the opportunity to guest teach an AP Computer Science A class, giving me direct experience working with high school students on rigorous CS content. These experiences solidified my passion for teaching and my ability to break down complex topics in a way that is clear, approachable, and engaging.
Outside the classroom, I have two years of software engineering internship experience at KeyBank, where I worked on real-world cybersecurity and fraud analytics projects, research experience developing machine learning applications at OSU's Center for Automotive Research, and am starting a new full-time role at Huntington as a software engineer.

My Teaching Approach:
I offer personalized one-on-one computer science tutoring for K-12 and early college students, whether you're just getting started with coding or working through your first college CS courses. My lessons are tailored to each student — no two sessions look exactly the same, because every learner is different.
How My Lessons Work:
I structure my lessons around the "I do, we do, you do" framework. I start by clearly explaining the concept and walking through examples myself, then we work through problems together, and finally I step back and let you tackle it on your own — building real confidence along the way. I also design custom, hands-on coding labs that make learning feel relevant and engaging rather than just memorizing syntax from a textbook. The goal is always for you to leave each session actually understanding the material, not just getting through it.
What Sets Me Apart:
As a recent Ohio State CS graduate, I'm close enough in age to genuinely remember what it's like to struggle with these concepts for the first time — which makes it easy for me to relate to students and explain things in a way that actually clicks. I can show students not just how to pass a class, but how these skills are used in the real world. Most importantly, I genuinely care about my students and want to see them succeed!
