About Melody
Hola a todos! I have two Bachelor's Degrees from the College of Charleston in Spanish and Latin American Studies. I think it is so important to learn Spanish as it's the second-most spoken language in our community! I have lived and traveled extensively in both Spain and Latin America, so I can teach Hispanic cultural aspects as well.
I find that most Anglophone Spanish learners struggle with their accent as the biggest obstacle for clear communication. I'm able to provide tips from my experience as a native English speaker who is now often mistaken for a native Spanish speaker.

I believe grammar and vocabulary are the essential foundation of learning a language, but a learner must also practice speaking from the very beginning. I start with the most useful words and phrases that are used in everyday life. I also focus extensively on pronunciation because I've found that the typical native English speaker struggles with certain letters and sounds such as the "D intervocálica" and vowels, especially "i." These sounds often mark the difference between correct pronunciation and a strong Anglicized accent in Spanish.
